Flaying or skinning is an ancient execution method that is considered to be one of the most painful forms of punishment.

The process involves tying up the victim's hands and feet to prevent any movement and then slowly peeling off their skin using a sharp blade. The head was often the starting point, causing immense suffering as the victim remained conscious throughout the ordeal. In some cases, boiling was used to soften the skin for easier removal.

Death could occur from shock, loss of blood or fluids, hypothermia, or infection, and could take anywhere from a few hours to several days. This brutal punishment was practiced by different societies throughout history, including the Assyrians, Aztecs, Chinese, and some Medieval European peoples. It was used as a means of sending a message to others and demonstrating the power of the ruling authority.

While rare, flayed bodies were often displayed publicly as a warning to those who might dare to disobey or challenge the ruling power. Despite its rarity, flaying remains one of the most horrifying and gruesome methods of punishment in human history.

Death was better than punishment for people at that time. Awa eniyan la buru ju❗️
